The client provided references and guidelines for creating a 3D model of the Morton Salt girl, which would be animated and featured in an AR experience for their product.
Converting a 2D character into 3D, while keeping it low-poly for AR, was a challenge. I broke down the reference into character, props, and effects, then tackled each part before combining them for the final result.
A major challenge was creating an outline effect in AR quickly. I used a technique of duplicating the mesh, inverting the normals, and applying a solid color unlit material, which was both effective and efficient.
